Hands On Creativity

by Irene Dizes

About the Artist

Always creating, I went from designing clothes for my dolls as a child, to sewing clothes for myself and my children to teaching sewing classes to now designing and creating wearable art. I have over 20 years of teaching “hands-on creativity”. My students say they love my patient and caring style of instruction and expert construction techniques. I call my method of teaching “hands-on creativity” because I work closely with each participant to bring his/her touch to the materials chosen and bring out their individual creativity.
Always learning, always looking to stay current I continue to seek inspiration from some of the top artisans in the world. I integrate each new experience and learned technique from fellow artisans to produce a style uniquely my own.My more recent outlets for creativity are felting and beading. My designs are all free form and original wearable art using techniques such as Nuno felting, beading, dyeing silk fabrics for my felting projects and polymer clay for jewelry and buttons for my jackets.

Worldwide Inspiration
I continue to seek inspiration from some of the top artisans in the world. I have studied felting with Jean Gauger of Massachusetts, Polly Stirling and Sachiko from Australia and Jori Johnston of Japan. I blend each new experience with those I have acquired to produce a style uniquely my own.
